Train Signal Tower

Modular building kit inspired by British railway signal towers.

For this project I wanted to make a modular building developing my skills working with modular pieces and a midpoly workflow. The building is based on the British Spondon signal tower from the 70s.
I worked on this project for about 8 weeks half-time.

For this project I also wanted to develop my technical knowledge and I learned about new methods that I incorporated into my piece. I developed a spline tool to use for the modular train tracks, making them easy to place and manipulate in my scene. I also learned about nanite tessellation and incorporated this into my gravel, giving depth and realism to my gravel planes. I have also greatly developed my shader knowledge.

Everything except the foliage is made by me. Foliage taken from Quixel.
Credits to Paul Lager Cullin for the procedural tool video.

A big thank you to my classmates and to my mentor Dag Lindwall for incredible feedback!

My kit was used by a programmer colleague specializing in procedural generation. A short showcase of the tool.
